QR Code Reader
Decode a QR code from an image, a pasted screenshot or your camera.
How to use the QR code reader
- Press Choose image, drop an image onto the box, or copy a screenshot and paste it withCtrl+V (⌘+V on a Mac).
- Or press Use camera and hold the code in front of your webcam or phone camera. Scanning stops as soon as a code is found, or when you press Stop camera.
- The decoded text appears on the right. Use Copy to copy it. If it is a web address, it is also shown as a link; nothing opens until you click it.
Example
Scan a QR code made with our QR code generator for https://tinydev.dev and the reader showshttps://tinydev.dev in the text box, with the same address as a link below it. A code for plain text such as WIFI:T:WPA;S:Office;P:secret;; is shown as text only, so you can copy the network details.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is decoded in your browser with the open-source jsQR library; it is never sent to a server, and camera frames stay on your device too.
Why is no QR code found?
The code may be blurry, too small, cut off or low in contrast. Try a sharper photo, crop closer to the code, or make sure the whole code and a little of the border around it are visible. Both dark-on-light and inverted light-on-dark codes are supported.
Is it safe to open the link in a QR code?
Links in QR codes can point anywhere, including phishing sites, so check the address before you click. This tool never opens a link by itself, and only http and https addresses are made clickable.
